Thank you for your interest in the 2019 National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) Annual Education Conference. Our conference will be held June 12th – June 14th, 2019 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Garden Grove / Anaheim (Orange County) CA. We look forward to receiving your innovative proposals and value your participation in what we plan to be a valuable and enjoyable learning, networking, advocacy experience.
Deadline for Proposals: All proposals must be submitted electronically by November 16, 2018.
Topic Areas: We encourage proposals that relate to the conference theme while being useful for our conference participants: typically foster, kinship, and adoptive families, as well as child welfare, mental health, and other related professionals. Strategies for advocacy, both legislative and family focused, are welcome.
Selection Criteria: Being relevant to the conference theme “Navigating the Future”, special populations, organizations, individuals and families in/outside the formal child welfare system.
Having an engaging format, including use of handouts, interactive presentations, discussions and hands-on learning opportunities.
Showing the ability to be replicated and adapted by participants within their families, communities, associations, and practice areas.
Providing procedures and tools for implementation, adaptation, and replication. Being relevant to foster, adoptive, and kinship families and agency/organization professionals.
Demonstrating cultural sensitivity to diverse populations of children, families, and individuals.
Requirements: All workshops will be 90 minutes in length. The selected presenter(s) MUST agree in writing to provide an electronic copy of any and all handout materials for possible publication/posting on the NFPA website and to provide paper copies of handouts in a quantity sufficient for their workshop participants. Electronic copies of handouts are due to the NFPA by June 1, 2019.
All presenters and any co-presenters MUST register for the conference. Presenters and co-presenters MUST pay their own expenses including conference registration. Conference registration is reduced to $150 for presenters and co-presenters who want to attend other workshops and conference events including any meals. Presenters and co-presenters who attend only their own workshop can register at no cost.
PLEASE NOTE:
The NFPA does NOT provide projectors or laptops for any workshops. Presenters must bring this equipment with them if it is required for their presentation. This includes any speakers, cords or adapters needed to operate the equipment. Presenters must be able to operate their own equipment.
The NFPA has a limited number of projectors to rent onsite. Let us know if this is needed when you submit your proposal.
The NFPA does not pay for any presentations nor does the NFPA provide any lodging cost assistance for presenters.
The conference committee understands the investment of time and other resources needed to participate, therefore, presenters will be notified no later than January 7, 2019, of their acceptance and will be asked to confirm. After confirmation presenters will be assigned a day and time of their workshop.
